During regular maintenance inspections, the tension of the tendon part of the shielding dome has been checked, but with the installation of the light sensing system, continuous monitoring has become possible.
As a new integrity monitoring system for the Gina Nuclear Power Plant located in Rochester, New York, USA, we have adopted the system manufactured by our company, Micron Optics, Inc. (MOI), which includes measuring instruments, sensors, and software, all produced by MOI. Until now, the tension of the tendon part of the shielding dome has been checked during regular maintenance inspections, but by installing the optical sensing system, it can now be monitored continuously. We hope that this implementation of the optical sensing system at the nuclear power plant will contribute to proving its safety in the future.
